Update: Theatre III

Yes an update on my life.

As I am now in Theatre III (The highest theatre class offered at my school), I am more involved in the Theatre program. I have to do contest (aka hell). I still have to memorize two pieces. Each is about eight minutes long. And Contest is next week. I am completely, utterly, screwed for those two events. But I've got my other two pieces down! A DI (Dramatic Interp) and poetry piece. The DI is about suicide. I saw it at Spring Contest last year and knew I had to do it. My poetry is about two sister who hate each other and it's a humorous  poetry.

But enough about Contest!

Now let's move on to One Act.

If you have any knowledge of a full length play, you are most likely aware that plays are cut into two acts, acts I and II (Creative, right?) One Act is one act of a two act play. (Theatre people come up with really creative names.) Auditions are going to be the week before we are let out for Winter break. The play we are doing is called Triangle. It's about the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire of 1911. The majority of the workers were the poorest of the poor girls. To prevent the girls from leaving, the head honcho people would lock the doors because they thought the girls would steal some of the fabric. Well, in 1911, a fire started in the factory. No one knows how, but some say it was a cigarette that got dropped onto a pile of fabric. Everyone died. The girls died from either burning to death because of the locked doors, or falling to their death because they jumped from the building. Only about 11 people survived the fire.

It's actually quite interesting and depressing. It's my kind of play. I will be auditioning for the role of a ghost girl who is trapped in the factory because she could not get to her sister (who's also dead) and protect her, even though she promised. I think her name is Sophie? (I forget)

Anyways, that is the reason for my not being on. And homework.
